Electrical Engineer – Hardware & Controls
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and support electrical and firmware systems for custom motion and robotic platforms. This position works with motor controllers, drive electronics, actuators, sensors, and feedback systems and supports products from concept through sustained manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain electrical subsystems including controllers, drives, actuators, sensors, instrumentation, and feedback systems
- Support control-system tuning and calibration
- Specify and integrate motors, drives, encoders, and power electronics
- Review schematics and custom PCBA designs
- Troubleshoot hardware/firmware interaction issues
- Support production troubleshooting, test fixtures, and system bring-up
- Support BOM obsolescence and electrical design refreshes
Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
- 5+ years of electrical or electromechanical system design experience
- Experience with motors, drives, encoders, actuation, power electronics, or feedback/control systems
- Strong electronics and closed-loop control fundamentals
- Experience reviewing electrical schematics and custom PCBAs
- Working knowledge of embedded firmware/hardware interaction
- Experience in industrial automation, mechatronics, automotive, or robotics environments welcomed
Preferred: Robotics, medical devices, test/simulation systems, FPGA-based systems, industrial communication protocols, regulated environments, or analog signal conditioning/data acquisition experience.
Location: Watertown, MA
Salary: $100,000–$120,000 base, depending on experience.
