Law Firm Marketing & Business Development Director Compensation & Benefits
- $175,000–$200,000 base salary, depending on experience
- Discretionary bonus
- Hybrid schedule with four days per week in the NYC office
- High-impact role reporting directly to firm leadership
- Opportunity to lead and build the firm's marketing and business development function
Law Firm Marketing & Business Development Director Responsibilities
- Develop and execute firm-wide and practice-specific marketing and business development strategies
- Partner with attorneys and practice leaders on client development, cross-selling, pitches, and growth opportunities
- Create sophisticated pitch decks, proposals, RFP/RFI responses, capability statements, and client-facing presentations
- Prepare attorneys for client pitches and meetings through research, positioning, talking points, and follow-up strategy
- Lead branding, website, digital marketing, CRM, and marketing technology initiatives
- Manage competitive intelligence, market research, conferences, sponsorships, and client events
- Oversee Chambers, Legal 500, and other legal directory and award submissions
- Track business development activity, pipeline, wins, and results to identify opportunities and improve performance
Law Firm Marketing & Business Development Director Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive marketing and business development experience with substantial experience in a law firm
- Mid-sized law firm experience strongly preferred
- Proven success developing pitches, proposals, and business development materials that support new client growth
- Experience working directly with partners, practice group leaders, and senior firm leadership
- Expert-level PowerPoint skills and strong visual presentation capabilities
- CRM and marketing technology experience; Salesforce experience preferred
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools preferred
- Strong executive presence, writing skills, attention to detail, and ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Ability to balance high-level strategy with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel occasionally for client meetings, conferences, and firm events
