We are seeking an experienced Lead School Nurse (RN) to provide clinical leadership for a school health program in Wilton, Connecticut. Requirements & Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Connecticut Registered Nurse license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
- Significant clinical nursing experience
- Leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical or educational environment
- Experience managing patients or students with complex medical needs
- Knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, and applicable school health requirements
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Must Haves
- Lead, support, and provide clinical guidance to school nursing staff across the program
- Develop and oversee Individualized Health Care Plans and Emergency Health Care Plans
- Coordinate care for students with chronic, complex, and medically fragile conditions
- Ensure compliance with immunization requirements, mandated screenings, health records, and state reporting
- Collaborate with the School Medical Advisor on standing orders, medical protocols, and communicable disease surveillance
- Participate in PPT, 504, emergency preparedness, and interdisciplinary meetings
- Coordinate with parents, physicians, administrators, and public health agencies
- Provide direct student nursing care and emergency response when needed
Preferred Background & Skills
- Previous school nursing experience
- Pediatric, public health, or community health nursing background
- Previous experience leading or supervising RNs or clinical staff
- Knowledge of Connecticut school health regulations
- Experience with medically fragile children
- Familiarity with PPT/504 processes
- Experience developing clinical policies, protocols, or staff education
- Strong conflict-resolution and parent communication skills
