Pastry Chef Requirements & Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of professional pastry or baking experience, including leadership experience
- Experience in a high-volume restaurant, hotel, resort, casino, banquet, or catering environment
- Strong knowledge of classical and contemporary pastry and baking techniques
- Proven ability to hire, train, coach, and develop pastry professionals
- Experience managing food cost, labor, ordering, inventory, and production
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operation
- Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and special events
Pastry Chef Preferred Background & Skills
- Casino, luxury hotel, resort, or large entertainment venue experience
- Advanced chocolate work, sugar artistry, cake decorating, and plated dessert experience
- Large-scale banquet, catering, and special event production
- Strong balance of high-volume production and refined presentation
- Recipe development and menu planning experience
- Creative seasonal dessert and product development
- Strong understanding of food and labor costs
- Purchasing, inventory, and vendor management experience
- Production forecasting and workload planning
- Culinary degree or professional pastry training preferred
