Remote Cost Control Specialist
Position Overview
A growing energy and infrastructure project management firm is seeking an experienced Cost Control Specialist to support the financial management of transmission and renewable energy projects. This position will be responsible for monitoring project costs, maintaining budgets and forecasts, preparing financial reports, and helping project teams make informed financial decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate has strong project controls or cost management experience, excellent analytical skills, and experience working within energy, construction, infrastructure, or similar project environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
- Prepare and update Estimate at Completion (EAC) forecasts.
- Perform monthly cost reporting and financial reviews with project teams and leadership.
- Monitor project expenditures and identify cost risks, variances, and potential mitigation strategies.
- Track vendor and subcontractor costs to ensure accurate project financial reporting.
- Support procurement activities, including supplier setup, purchase requisitions, and purchase orders.
- Manage invoice processing and maintain accurate financial documentation.
- Partner with project managers, procurement teams, vendors, and financial stakeholders to maintain cost and budget alignment.
- Prepare financial analysis, reports, and ad-hoc cost information for management.
- Support project financial controls throughout development and construction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Construction, Accounting, or a related field.
- Experience supporting energy, utility, transmission, renewable energy, construction, or infrastructure projects.
- 10+ years of experience in cost control, project controls, project management support, finance, or a related field.
- Strong experience with project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Experience working with multiple project stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle Fusion, EcoSys, or Oracle Primavera.
- Exposure to Earned Value Management and project scheduling.
- Experience working with vendors, subcontractors, procurement teams, and project management groups.
