Requirements / Qualifications
- 4–5 years of accounting experience, within hotels or resorts.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field strongly preferred
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong understanding of hotel accounting processes, financial controls, payroll, and cash management
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and month-end closing
- Ability to work occasional weekends based on month-end closing requirements
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with department heads and hotel leadership
Preferred Background & Skills
- Previous accounting leadership experience within a full-service hotel or resort environment
- Experience with Oracle General Ledger
- Experience with Opera PMS
- Experience with Dayforce or similar timekeeping/payroll systems
- Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, credit and collections
- Experience assisting with internal and external audits
- Strong understanding of accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls
- Ability to identify accounting or operational control issues and partner with department leaders to develop solutions
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet month-end deadlines
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Director of Finance to oversee day-to-day hotel accounting operations
- Support accounting functions including payroll, cash handling, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, credit and collections
- Complete assigned balance sheet account reconciliations
- Help ensure an accurate and timely month-end close
- Assist in producing accurate financial statements in partnership with department leaders
- Audit bank activity, reconcile accounts, and follow up on cash over/short discrepancies
- Maintain proper accounting documentation and filing procedures
- Assist with internal and external audit requests
- Ensure compliance with established accounting procedures and internal controls
- Train and support accounting team members in their respective responsibilities
- Work closely with hotel departments to resolve accounting, systems, and controls-related issues
- Provide responsive, professional support to internal departments and hotel guests
