A well-established CPA firm in the Metairie area is looking for an experienced Tax CPA to join its team. This is an opportunity for a seasoned tax professional who enjoys working directly with clients, wants greater ownership of client relationships, and is interested in becoming an important part of the long-term growth and leadership of a smaller firm.

Tax CPA Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review individual and business federal and state income tax returns.
- Manage federal, state, and multi-state tax filings and related compliance matters.
- Provide clients with year-round tax planning, compliance, and advisory support.
- Review financial statements, workpapers, supporting schedules, and related accounting documentation.
- Manage relationships with a diverse client base that includes individuals, business owners, and closely held companies.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for assigned client relationships.
- Research complex tax matters and remain current on changes to federal and state tax regulations.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and provide proactive guidance and recommendations to clients.
- Review work prepared by other accounting professionals and help ensure accuracy and quality.
- Mentor, train, and support the professional development of less-experienced team members.
- Manage client deliverables and deadlines independently while collaborating with other CPAs and firm leadership.
- Participate in business development, relationship building, and opportunities to expand the firm's client base.
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients and professional referral sources.
- Contribute to the continued growth and long-term leadership of the firm.
Tax CPA Qualifications:
- Active CPA designation required.
- 5+ years of progressive tax and accounting experience; more seasoned professionals are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Significant tax-focused experience, including preparation and review of individual and business tax returns.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
- Experience with professional tax preparation and accounting software.
- Public accounting or CPA firm experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing client relationships and serving as a trusted advisor to business owners and individuals.
- Prior experience reviewing the work of other tax professionals strongly preferred.
- Experience mentoring, training, or leading accounting professionals preferred.
- Multi-state tax and complex return experience is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and relationship-management skills with a polished, professional client presence.
- Self-motivated and able to take ownership of client work, priorities, and deadlines without significant oversight.
- Strong interest in continued professional growth and taking on greater leadership responsibility.
- Collaborative and adaptable, with a willingness to contribute in a smaller firm where team members may wear multiple hats.
- Business development experience or a demonstrated interest and ability to develop new client relationships is strongly preferred.
- An existing book of business is highly desirable but not required; exceptional candidates without a portable book will be considered.
Tax CPA Compensation & Benefits:
- $120,000–$150,000+ salary based on experience and book of business, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
- 20% referral commission on revenue from new business originated for the first two years.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with the firm contributing 50% toward the employee's cost.
