General Manager Requirements & Qualifications:
- 3+ years of hospitality management experience in a bar, restaurant, lounge, hotel, or related upscale service environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead hourly teams, including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and managing performance
- Strong knowledge of bar operations, guest service, labor management, cash handling, and service recovery
- Willingness to work late nights, weekends, holidays, and maintain a flexible schedule
- Excellent communication, organization, judgment, and leadership abilities
- Must meet all legal requirements for employment and alcohol-service oversight in Tennessee
General Manager Preferred Background & Skills:
- Previous experience opening a new hospitality venue
- Background in an upscale cocktail bar, speakeasy, hotel bar, or nightlife environment
- Familiarity with POS systems, scheduling, payroll/timekeeping, inventory controls, and tip pool management
- Understanding of Tennessee alcohol-service regulations and responsible beverage service
- Strong network within the Nashville hospitality community
General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily venue operations from pre-shift setup through closing
- Foster an engaging, guest-centric culture aligned with brand standards
- Hire, train, schedule, and develop the hourly team for optimal performance
- Lead pre-shift meetings and provide real-time coaching during service
- Manage guest flow, reservations, seating, and overall room experience
- Partner with the bar lead to ensure cocktail quality, bar readiness, and consistent service
- Monitor labor, costs, sales, comps, and inventory-related expenses for profitability
- Ensure compliance with company policies, local labor standards, and alcohol-service regulations
- Foster safety, handle incident reporting, and support guest recovery as needed
