Join our team as the Senior Buyer and take full ownership of procurement operations across a dynamic custom manufacturing environment. Reporting directly to the Procurement Manager, you will lead the sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of raw materials and services critical to project success, and set the standard for supplier performance, cost control, and cross-functional collaboration.**
This role is ideal for an experienced procurement professional who has a strong background in custom or project-based manufacturing, hands-on knowledge of raw material sourcing including stainless steel, and who wants to step into a senior-level role where their technical knowledge and leadership ability are put to use every day with a stable and growing company.*
Senior Buyer | What You Will Do
- Source, quote, and negotiate price, quality, and delivery terms for raw materials and services including stainless steel bar, sheet, and plate
- Review and analyze material requirements based on part nesting and utilization to determine accurate order quantities
- Evaluate and compare multiple supplier quotes to identify the most cost-effective and timely options for assigned projects
- Create and issue purchase orders accurately in alignment with project schedules, budgets, and inventory requirements
- Manage supplier relationships, monitor delivery performance, and drive resolution of NCRs, RMAs, and corrective actions
- Provide costing estimates and procurement support to Project Management and Engineering during the estimating process
- Lead, mentor, and provide direction to 1–3 procurement coworkers
- Develop KPIs, reporting tools, and analysis in coordination with the Procurement Manager to measure and improve procurement performance
Senior Buyer | What You Bring
- Minimum 7 years of purchasing experience within a custom manufacturing environment
- Minimum 1 year of experience leading, mentoring, or supervising procurement staff
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and Technical Data Sheets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Access, Excel, and Word
- Strong negotiation, cost analysis, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience managing supplier quality processes including NCRs, RMAs, and corrective actions
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain preferred; CSCP or CPIM certification a plus
