Executive Vice President of Merchandising Requirements & Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive merchandising, buying, inventory planning, or commercial leadership experience
- Executive leadership experience overseeing large merchandising organizations with direct responsibility for revenue, margin, and inventory performance
- Demonstrated success developing merchandising strategies that drive profitable sales growth
- Strong experience with assortment planning, pricing strategy, inventory forecasting, allocation, replenishment, and vendor management
- Experience leading high-performing merchandising, buying, and planning teams
- Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to make strategic business decisions
- Experience partnering across Operations, Finance, Marketing, Technology, Ecommerce, and Executive Leadership
- Proven success building scalable processes, teams, and organizational structure within high-growth businesses
- Outstanding executive communication and leadership skills
Must Haves
- Executive merchandising leadership experience
- Ownership of P&L performance through merchandising decisions

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead the company's overall merchandising strategy across multiple product categories and sales channels
- Direct buying, inventory planning, allocation, merchandise operations, product development, and vendor partnerships
- Develop annual merchandising business plans including revenue, margin, inventory investment, and category growth objectives
- Drive assortment optimization across retail, ecommerce, wholesale, marketplace, and emerging sales channels
- Identify new product opportunities, exclusive offerings, and category expansion initiatives
- Partner with executive leadership to evaluate market trends and capitalize on growth opportunities
- Build executive reporting that provides actionable insights into sales, inventory health, margins, and category performance
- Develop scalable merchandising systems, organizational structure, and future leadership talent
- Collaborate with Marketing and Media teams to align merchandising initiatives with customer demand and product launches
- Mentor and develop merchandising leaders while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
Executive Vice President of Merchandising Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience within specialty retail, enthusiast-driven retail, collectibles, sporting goods, gaming, hobby retail, or adjacent consumer product industries
- Multi-location retail leadership experience
- Experience supporting rapid organizational growth and business expansion
- Strong background in strategic sourcing and vendor negotiations
- MBA or advanced business degree
- Experience leading transformational change within entrepreneurial organizations
- Passion for building teams, developing talent, and creating scalable business processes
