We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead access control and low voltage projects for commercial and high-end residential clients. This role will oversee field technicians, coordinate project delivery, and serve as a primary point of contact for customers from kickoff through closeout.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple access control / low voltage projects from planning through completion, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
- Supervise and support technicians who: move, secure, and install access control equipment in commercial and residential environments; configure, test, and commission access control systems; and provide customer training on system operation.
- Coordinate and assign daily tasks, prioritize service calls, and ensure technicians have materials, tools, and information necessary to complete work efficiently.
- Provide technical oversight for access control systems, including troubleshooting and resolving field issues, hardware failures, and integration problems.
- Perform on-site visits to verify installation quality, adherence to specifications, and code/standard compliance.
- Review and approve scopes, estimates, and change orders for access control and low voltage work.
- Ensure accurate documentation, including as-builts, programming records, system logs, service tickets, and closeout packages.
- Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, purchasing, scheduling, accounting) to maintain project timelines and cost control.
- Maintain strong customer relationships through proactive communication, status updates, and responsive service and phone support.
- Enforce company safety policies and procedures; ensure safe use of ladders, lifts, power tools, and materials handling on all job sites.
Required Experience and Skills
- 3+ years of experience in access control, low voltage, security, or related electrical/technology systems.
- Proven experience overseeing technicians who perform: system installation, configuration, testing, customer training, on-site technical service, troubleshooting, and hardware repairs.
- Hands-on familiarity with access control devices, panels, readers, strikes/maglocks, power supplies, and related low voltage infrastructure.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specs, and riser diagrams for access control and low voltage systems.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, schedules, and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, including phone and in-person support.
- Comfortable working around physical tasks such as lifting, loading/unloading materials, and working with power tools (as needed for site walks or support).
- Proficiency with basic office and project tools (email, spreadsheets, project tracking software).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with major access control platforms (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, Brivo, Openpath, S2, etc.).
- Background in security integration, CCTV, or broader low voltage systems (data, AV, intercom).
- Prior leadership experience as a lead tech, foreman, or project manager in the low voltage/security industry.
