A growing advanced manufacturing operation is looking for a CNC Machinist with 5-axis machining experience to help produce complex, high-precision components used in propulsion, defense, and marine applications. This role focuses on machine setup, operation, and maintaining consistent quality on tight-tolerance parts. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on machining, solving problems on the shop floor, and working with advanced CNC equipment.

Key Responsibilities as a CNC Machinist
• Set up and run CNC mills including 5-axis equipment to produce precision components
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings to ensure accurate machining
• Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections to verify quality and tolerances
• Load programs, adjust offsets, and make minor edits when required
• Monitor tool performance, replace worn tools, and maintain proper cutting conditions
• Work with programmers, engineers, and quality teams to resolve machining issues
• Troubleshoot production challenges using basic machining knowledge and process understanding
• Maintain a safe, organized workspace and follow shop safety procedures
Qualifications for a CNC Machinist
• 2–5+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment
• Exposure to 5-axis or multi-axis CNC machining
• Ability to maintain tight tolerances (±0.0005” preferred)
• Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, setups, and tooling
• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T
• Experience with precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Preferred Experience for a CNC Machinist
• Background in aerospace, defense, marine, or high-performance manufacturing
• Familiarity with Fanuc, Siemens, or Heidenhain controls
• Exposure to CAM-generated programs or multi-axis machining strategies
