Assistant Director of Engineering Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience overseeing building maintenance and operations for hotels or large commercial properties.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including entering technical data and monitoring schedules.
- Knowledge of building codes and compliance standards.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and manage or assist with technical deadlines.
- Basic skills in electrical work, plumbing, and drywall repair.
- Hands-on experience with the use of common hand tools.
Assistant Director of Engineering Preferred Background & Skills
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in engineering or facilities management.
- Analytical ability for troubleshooting technical and operational issues.
- Experience supporting high-end clientele or executive-level guests.
- Familiarity with energy management and preventive maintenance programs.
Assistant Director of Engineering Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the maintenance and operation of all hotel systems and structures.
- Oversee the completion of repairs, renovations, and routine maintenance across guest rooms, event spaces, restaurants, and back-of-house areas.
- Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and coaching engineering staff.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and compliance with purchasing policies, budgets, and schedules.
- Maintain and improve preventive maintenance and energy management programs.
- Serve as a technical resource for other departments, providing training on equipment safety and efficiency.
- Report regularly to leadership on the condition and needs of the hotel’s infrastructure.
- Represent the hotel professionally at community and industry events.
