A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Plant Controller to oversee plant financial operations, cost accounting, and inventory management for a high-performing production facility. This role will partner closely with plant leadership to drive financial performance, operational efficiency, and accurate financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in manufacturing finance, standard costing, inventory control, and variance analysis, along with the ability to translate operational data into meaningful financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead plant financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Oversee cost accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing variance analysis
- Manage inventory accounting including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
- Monitor material, labor, and overhead variances
- Oversee cycle counts, physical inventory, and inventory reconciliations
- Ensure Bill of Materials (BOM) costing accuracy
- Partner with plant leadership to improve production costs, inventory turns, and operational efficiency
- Support ERP financial reporting and data integrity
- Maintain strong internal controls and GAAP compliance
- Analyze operational drivers including scrap rates, labor efficiency, and production throughput
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7+ years of manufacturing accounting or plant finance experience
- Strong experience with standard costing, inventory control, and variance analysis
- Experience managing inventory valuation (raw materials, WIP, finished goods)
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Epicor, or Dynamics
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Strong ability to partner with operations and plant leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- CMA (Certified Management Accountant) highly preferred
- CPA a plus
- Experience in mid-size or large manufacturing environments
- Experience supporting continuous improvement or lean manufacturing initiatives
