Shop Floor Manager – Precision Machining Operations
Billerica, MA | $125,000 – $160,000 + Bonus

We are seeking an experienced Shop Floor Manager to oversee daily operations across CNC milling and turning departments while leading the integration of historically separate teams into a unified, highly collaborative manufacturing organization. Requirements & Qualifications:
- 8+ years of manufacturing leadership experience within a precision machining environment
- Experience managing multiple production departments, manufacturing teams, or shifts
- Strong understanding of CNC milling and CNC turning operations
- Experience with production scheduling, capacity planning, and resource allocation
- Demonstrated success leading teams, coaching employees, and driving accountability
- Proven ability to implement operational improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and production-related challenges
Preferred Qualifications:
- Aerospace, defense, medical device, semiconductor, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience
- Experience leading departmental integration, organizational transformation, or cross-functional initiatives
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement experience
- ERP/MRP system experience
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
Must Haves:
- Lead daily operations for approximately 50 CNC machinists and operators across milling and turning departments
- Evaluate workforce strengths and develop cross-training programs that improve operational flexibility
- Balance labor allocation and machine capacity to maximize throughput and on-time delivery performance
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations leadership to resolve manufacturing challenges
- Develop standardized processes and best practices across historically separate machining departments
- Monitor key operational metrics including productivity, scrap, efficiency, quality, and delivery performance
- Coach supervisors and frontline leaders to improve communication, accountability, and team performance
- Support troubleshooting of complex machining, tooling, setup, and production issues
- Drive workforce development initiatives and identify future leadership talent within the organization
- Lead continuous improvement efforts that enhance workflow, efficiency, and manufacturing performance
Preferred Background & Skills
- Precision machining, CNC manufacturing, or advanced manufacturing leadership experience
- Experience overseeing both milling and turning operations
- Background in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments
- Experience supporting semiconductor, aerospace, medical device, biotechnology, or defense-related manufacturing
- Strong change management and team integration skills
- Data-driven leadership approach with experience using production metrics to drive decision making
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis capabilities
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to earn credibility on the shop floor
- Experience building collaborative, high-accountability manufacturing cultures
