Project Manager – Public Works Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience working for a contractor managing complex construction projects
- Minimum 10 years of construction experience, including substantial time (5+ years) on wastewater treatment plant or sewage treatment plant projects
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management preferred (BSCE or BSCM)
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
- First Aid and CPR certification; Competent Person training
- Ability to work in active construction environments, including lifting up to 50 lbs and navigating outdoor, sometimes noisy conditions
Project Manager – Public Works Preferred Background & Skills
- 5+ years specifically managing wastewater treatment plant construction as a project manager
- Experience coordinating with public sector owners, engineers, and subcontractors
Project Manager – Public Works Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Serve as the on-site representative, maintaining professional relationships with stakeholders
- Lead all field engineering and construction management activities, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and safety standards
- Oversee safety management, enforce company and OSHA requirements, and document meetings, inspections, incidents, and training
- Review project files, drawings, and specifications; coordinate pre-construction activities and meetings
- Manage site logistics, material procurement, and subcontractor coordination throughout execution and closeout
- Mentor and support project management staff, fostering professional growth and supporting recruitment and performance reviews
