A nationally recognized law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join its expanding insurance coverage litigation team in Seattle. This role focuses on advising insurance carriers on first-party and third-party coverage matters and defending against bad faith claims in Washington and jurisdictions nationwide.
This is a strategic, client-facing role suited for a senior attorney who thrives on complex policy analysis, high-level litigation strategy, and proactive matter management.
Senior Counsel Responsibilities:
- Analyze insurance policy language and evaluate coverage positions under first- and third-party claims.
- Draft detailed coverage opinions and provide strategic risk assessments to insurer clients.
- Prepare pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery, and supporting briefs in coverage litigation and bad faith disputes.
- Conduct advanced legal research and draft analytical memoranda.
- Represent clients at depositions, hearings, mediations, and related proceedings.
- Manage active matters independently, including strategy development, deadlines, and client communications.
Senior Counsel Requirements:
- Active Washington State Bar admission required.
- Significant experience in insurance coverage and coverage litigation (or strong commercial litigation background with demonstrated interest in coverage work).
- Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive matters with minimal supervision.
- Strong client communication and strategic problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple high-level matters simultaneously.
Senior Counsel Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range: $200,000 – $235,000 (DOE).
