Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney Requirements & Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in New York
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial litigation experience
- Proven experience handling matters in New York State and Federal Courts
- Strong legal writing, motion practice, and research skills
- Experience taking and defending depositions
- History managing cases from inception through resolution
- Excellent client communication and relationship management skills
- Ability to work independently while supporting team collaboration
Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience at a boutique litigation firm
- Commercial foreclosure or real estate litigation experience
- Restructuring or bankruptcy litigation exposure
- Judgment enforcement and creditor rights background
- Trial experience
- Admission to SDNY and EDNY courts
- Experience representing lenders, borrowers, developers, or investors
- Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in contributing to firm growth
Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead commercial litigation matters through all phases of litigation
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery demands
- Develop case strategies and evaluate litigation risks
- Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Work directly with clients on litigation strategy and case management
- Coordinate with experts, consultants, and outside professionals
- Mentor junior attorneys and legal staff
- Assist with trial preparation and courtroom advocacy
