We are currently seeking a Scrap Buyer to support its aluminum recycling operations by sourcing and purchasing Twitch, Tweak, and Zorba.
This is a hands-on commodities buying role focused on building supplier relationships, negotiating pricing and terms, and coordinating with logistics and plant teams to ensure smooth execution.
The role supports two operating sites and requires balancing supply, freight, and purchasing priorities across both locations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and grow a supply base for Twitch, Tweak, and Zorba
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships through regular communication and site visits
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and freight in line with market conditions and margin targets
- Monitor scrap spreads, base metals, and regional demand to guide buying decisions
- Coordinate with logistics and plant operations to schedule and manage shipments
- Resolve delivery, quality, or documentation issues quickly and professionally
- Ensure purchasing and receiving documentation is accurate and complete
- Follow company purchasing policies and compliance requirements
Qualifications
- 2+ years of buying, procurement, or sourcing experience in scrap, recycling, metals, or commodities (non-ferrous preferred)
- Proven negotiation skills and strong follow-through on execution
- Strong communication skills with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams
- Ability to operate in a fast-moving environment with daily pricing and logistics changes
- Experience using ERP or commodity management systems
Required
- Direct experience buying Twitch, Tweak, Zorba, or similar non-ferrous grades
- Working knowledge of scrap specifications and grading standards
- Familiarity with purchasing workflows, load tracking, and basic freight economics
