Quality Manager
Location: Russell Springs, KY
Industry: Automotive – Plastic & Rubber Molding
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, plant-floor-oriented Quality Manager to lead the Quality Management System and restore world-class performance in a demanding automotive manufacturing environment.
This is not a maintenance role for an existing system — this is a rebuild and stabilization role. Customers are highly engaged, expectations are high, and the business requires a leader who can drive accountability, enforce standards, and reduce escapes at the source.
You will be highly visible with customers and deeply involved in daily operations, not just documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the plant’s Quality Management System and ensure ongoing compliance with IATF 16949
- Drive reduction of scrap (currently ~9%, target ≤2%) and eliminate customer escapes
- Strengthen quality at the source and cell level, ensuring layered process control is effective
- Lead customer-facing quality activities including visits, audits, corrective actions, and containment
- Ensure proper execution of AIAG Core Tools in practice, not just on paper
- Own internal audits, customer audits, and certification readiness
- Oversee deviation management and engineering change processes to ensure corrective actions are completed and sustained
- Develop and rebuild accountability within a large quality team
- Partner with operations, engineering, and tooling to improve process stability
- Replace reactive firefighting with structured problem-solving and standard work
Required Background
- Automotive manufacturing experience is mandatory
- Experience in plastic injection molding and/or rubber compression molding environments strongly preferred
- Proven leadership of a plant-level Quality Management System
- Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949 and AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA)
- Experience leading customer-facing quality in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Demonstrated success reducing scrap, escapes, and cost of poor quality
- Comfortable leading through change and restoring process discipline in a struggling operation
What Success Looks Like
- Scrap reduced from current levels toward target
- Fewer customer complaints and improved scorecards
- Stable, audit-ready systems that are followed in daily practice
- Stronger culture of accountability and adherence to standards
Salary Range: $110,000 – $145,000
