Executive Chef Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Executive Chef or Chef de Cuisine in fine dining or upscale restaurants
- Proven background in leading quality-driven, detail-oriented kitchens
- Strong culinary technique, palate, and menu execution skills
- Experience with seasonal, ingredient-driven cuisine
- Demonstrated leadership with clear communication and composure under pressure
- Deep understanding of kitchen systems, inventory control, food cost, and labor management
- Experience opening new restaurants preferred
Executive Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead all culinary operations for a new restaurant opening
- Collaborate with ownership and executive leadership to execute the restaurant’s concept and standards
- Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing back-of-house team
- Oversee daily prep, service execution, and kitchen systems
- Maintain exceptional standards for food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Manage food cost, labor, inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships
- Ensure compliance with Department of Health, food safety, and sanitation regulations
- Foster and maintain a professional, organized, and disciplined kitchen culture
