Project Outage Planner

A utility-focused project management firm is seeking a Project Outage Planner to support high-voltage transmission, distribution, and substation capital projects. This role plays a critical part in maintaining system reliability while enabling construction and infrastructure upgrades across regulated utility environments.
The Project Outage Planner works closely with project teams, control centers, and field personnel to plan, coordinate, and execute system outages that align with construction schedules, safety requirements, and regional reliability standards.
What You Will Do
- Plan and coordinate system outages supporting transmission, distribution, and substation capital projects
- Develop outage and switching sequences to enable construction activities
- Schedule switching for transmission lines, substations, and distribution systems
- Coordinate outage activities with control centers, field crews, and project management teams
- Analyze outage requests for conflicts and contingencies
- Ensure compliance with PJM outage coordination and operating requirements
- Support construction sequencing and capital project schedules
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and system reliability
Required Qualifications
- Technical degree or equivalent related experience
- Experience in transmission and distribution environments
- Working knowledge of outage coordination and switching procedures
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple activities in a high-volume operational environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience with EMS, EDOA, or GIS systems
- Exposure to capital project scheduling or project controls
- Utility company, ISO, or regulated power environment background
