Program Director, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Requirements & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a healthcare or education-related field (doctoral degree highly valued)
- Current credentialing in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS or equivalent) in at least one concentration
- Minimum 2 years full-time clinical experience as a registered diagnostic medical sonographer
- At least 1 year in an administrative, supervisory, or program leadership role
- 2 years experience in curriculum design, program evaluation, and student advising
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in academic and clinical program administration
- Commitment to student success, academic excellence, and inclusive teaching practices
- Proficiency with educational technology, student assessment, and MS Office
Program Director, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Preferred Background & Skills
- College-level teaching experience
- Familiarity with CAAHEP and JRCDMS standards and accreditation processes
Program Director, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Provide academic and administrative leadership for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- Oversee accreditation compliance, including program self-study, reporting, and site visits
- Teach up to 12 credits per academic year in the sonography program
- Mentor faculty and staff, promoting instructional excellence and professional development
- Collaborate with clinical partners to secure, evaluate, and sustain clinical education placements
- Lead curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Advise and support students, fostering a culture of academic success and professional growth
- Manage program operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
