Banquet Chef Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of banquet, catering, or high-volume culinary experience
- Previous leadership experience in an upscale hospitality, catering, hotel, or event venue environment
- Strong understanding of banquet production and large-scale event execution
- Proven ability to manage formal catered events for 200–500+ guests preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience managing inventory, food costs, scheduling, and sanitation compliance
- Culinary degree or formal training preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Passion for hospitality and delivering memorable dining experiences
Banquet Chef Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience developing and refining banquet menus based on seasonal offerings and client preferences
- Training and mentoring kitchen staff to uphold quality and presentation standards
Banquet Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Oversee banquet food preparation and execution for weddings, corporate events, galas, and private celebrations
- Lead, supervise, and motivate sous chefs, line cooks, prep cooks, and kitchen assistants to deliver exceptional service
- Collaborate with event managers and front-of-house teams for seamless event execution
- Develop menus that reflect seasonal trends, dietary accommodations, and client needs
- Manage inventory control, purchasing, scheduling, and labor in line with budget goals
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and food safety regulations
- Coordinate production timelines and logistics for multiple simultaneous events
