Associate Attorney – General Liability (Hybrid/Remote)
We are partnering with a growing national defense litigation firm to identify an Associate Attorney for its General Liability practice based in Jersey City, NJ. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 2–4 years of civil defense litigation experience seeking strong mentorship, hands-on litigation exposure, and long-term growth within a collaborative firm environment.
This role offers meaningful courtroom and deposition experience, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to work alongside experienced litigators across a broad range of insurance defense matters.
Associate Attorney – General Liability – The Role
Under the guidance of experienced partners, the Associate Attorney will manage a diverse caseload of insurance defense and general liability matters, gaining exposure to all phases of litigation.
Associate Attorney – General Liability Responsibilities include:
- Managing and billing a caseload of approximately 25+ matters
- Drafting and responding to pleadings, motions, and written discovery
- Attending and defending depositions; taking depositions
- Making court appearances and attending hearings
- Assisting with mediations and trial preparation
- Collaborating directly with clients and internal legal teams
- Maintain accurate billing and case management practices
Associate Attorney – General Liability Qualifications
- Active Bar license in good standing in NY & NJ
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- 2-4 years of civil defense litigation experience, preferably in:
- General Liability
- Insurance Defense
- Labor & Employment
- Property/Premises
- Casualty/Personal Injury
- Experience handling multiple matters simultaneously
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Comfortable working independently while meeting deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard legal technology
- Valid driver’s license
Mediation or trial experience is a plus but not required.
Associate Attorney – General Liability Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $120,000–$140,000 (commensurate with experience)
