- Oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy scrap recycling yard
- Manage employees and department managers across transportation, maintenance, ferrous, and non-ferrous operations
- Grade incoming scrap materials from peddlers and industrial customers
- Coordinate the flow of inbound and outbound material to keep operations running efficiently
- Oversee truck dispatching and transportation activity
- Work closely with maintenance to ensure equipment uptime and operational efficiency
- Ensure the yard, buildings, and grounds are maintained properly
- Enforce safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment
- Help improve productivity, organization, and overall yard performance
- Make recommendations to executive leadership regarding operations and improvements
Qualifications:
- Strong scrap recycling industry experience required
- Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap grading
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a scrap yard or industrial environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage employees and multiple departments in a fast-paced operation
- Experience with trucking, dispatching, equipment, and yard operations preferred
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to work in an industrial environment
- Strong safety mindset and understanding of operational compliance
- Stable work history and dependable attendance record
