Gate & Automation Service Technician (Commercial & Residential) Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Service and repair a variety of automated gate systems, including slide, swing, cantilever, vertical lift, barrier arm, and crash-rated gates
- Troubleshoot and repair operators, motors, control boards, safety loops, photo eyes, keypads, intercoms, and access control devices
- Perform preventative maintenance, scheduled service, and emergency repairs as needed
- Maintain and repair high-security and crash-rated gate equipment, including heavy-duty mechanical and hydraulic components
- Support system installations and upgrades as the division expands
Gate & Automation Service Technician (Commercial & Residential) Requirements & Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with automated gate systems
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting abilities
- Solid electrical skills, including low voltage and basic 120V/240V knowledge
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and manufacturer technical documentation
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for afterhours and weekend service
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screening (including marijuana)
- Comfortable working independently in the field
Gate & Automation Service Technician (Commercial & Residential) Preferred Background & Skills
- Familiarity with brands such as LiftMaster, Doorking, HySecurity, FAAC, Nice, Viking, or Linear
- Understanding of UL 325 compliance requirements
- Experience in commercial, HOA, industrial, or high-security gate environments
- Exposure to access control and telephone entry systems
- Welding or fabrication skills a plus
