Construction Accounting Manager – St. Augustine / Jacksonville, FL
The Construction Accounting Manager will oversee all aspects of accounting and financial management related to electrical construction projects. This role requires a thorough understanding of construction accounting, project management, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
· Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
· Manage job cost accounting and ensure accurate tracking of project costs, budgets, and forecasts.
· Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
· Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the Board of Directors.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and present findings to senior management.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
· Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure profitability.
· Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
· Implement and maintain accounting systems and software specific to the construction industry (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, or similar).
· Train, mentor, and develop accounting staff to ensure a high-performing and cohesive team.
· Assist in financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
· Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the construction industry.
· Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and financial reporting.
· Proficiency in construction accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
· Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
· Strong leadership and team management abilities.
· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
