Senior Electrical Estimator
Location: Nashville, TN
The Senior Electrical Estimator works closely with regional leadership and plays a critical role in delivering accurate, competitive project pricing. This position offers the opportunity to grow through practical project involvement, collaboration with internal teams, and continued technical development.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates from initial takeoff through final bid turnover in coordination with assigned Project Managers
- Develop detailed pricing for change orders as project needs evolve
- Evaluate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs required for project completion
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, scope reviews, and site visits as required
- Draft detailed scope inclusions and exclusions to support bid clarity
- Interpret and analyze construction drawings and specifications with a high level of accuracy
- Collaborate with engineers, clients, vendors, and project management teams throughout the estimating process
- Solicit and review pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Support coordination and workflow of other estimating team members when applicable
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the estimating function
Qualifications
Core Competencies:
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and low voltage systems
- Ability to interpret and analyze construction documents and technical specifications
- Strong client-facing communication and relationship management skills
- Capable of identifying project risks and adjusting estimates accordingly
- Experience estimating projects of varying size and complexity
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform effectively in high-pressure environments
- Solid mathematical and analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Education & Experience:
- 8–10 years of experience with a high school diploma, or
- 6–8 years of experience with an associate degree, or
- 2–4 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ConEst estimating software
- Prior field or hands-on construction experience
Physical & Cognitive Requirements
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
- Prolonged sitting during the workday
- Manual dexterity for keyboard and computer use
- Ability to clearly communicate and interpret verbal and written information
- Strong reasoning and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to actively listen and process information effectively
