Senior Electrical Project Manager
Location: Charlotte, NC
The Senior Electrical Project Manager operates in a highly visible, client-facing capacity, working closely with executive leadership to drive successful project outcomes. This role requires strong relationship-building skills, both internally and externally, along with a commitment to continuous development through hands-on project execution, collaboration, and ongoing technical learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review cost estimates and project proposals
- Define project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
- Oversee project execution to ensure alignment with design intent, financial targets, and timelines
- Partner with clients to understand expectations and ensure satisfaction throughout all project phases
- Lead coordination efforts with internal teams and subcontractors
- Manage vendor relationships to support timely procurement and delivery of materials
- Drive proactive billing practices and maintain strong collections performance
- Perform regular site visits to monitor progress and resolve field challenges
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and team members
- Support leadership in forecasting labor and material requirements
- Provide regular project updates and reporting to senior leadership
- Monitor financial performance and adjust project direction as needed
- Develop detailed scopes of work and project budgets
- Manage RFP processes and oversee change order documentation
- Mentor and support the growth of junior team members
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to personal and professional development
Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in construction project management
- 5+ years managing electrical projects within large-scale, complex IT or telecommunications infrastructure environments, including data centers
- Strong knowledge of data center power distribution, structured cabling, and white space buildouts
- Experience working in live/operational facilities and coordinating across multiple critical systems
- Proficiency with computer systems and ability to quickly learn new software platforms
- Ability to manage deadlines and perform effectively under pressure
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Proven ability to plan, schedule, and delegate work effectively
- Skilled in conflict resolution and problem-solving
Preferred:
- Experience working on mission-critical projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience (including electrical licensing such as journeyman or master electrician)
- PMP or PMI-SP certification
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Coins, and ConEst
