A U.S. based vehicle manufacturer is hiring a Controls Engineer, Powertrain to support advanced powertrain controls development. This is an onsite role focused on model based controls design, CAN integration, and delivering robust vehicle functions that meet system requirements and safety expectations.
Controls Engineer, Powertrain What You Will Do
- Develop controls and software to meet system and functional expectations within powertrain
- Build CAN based controls integrating ESC, ABS, ADAS, and related vehicle systems
- Create controls models in MATLAB Simulink and support software generation from models
- Control I O devices including high side and low side drivers and relevant sensor inputs
- Implement torque security and torque arbitration for safety system interaction
- Interpret FMVSS, state, and customer requirements and apply them to designs
- Support prototype troubleshooting and participate in design reviews
- Produce technical documentation, reports, and project updates
- Manage project deliverables including cost, timing, risks, and issues with weekly reporting
- Work cross functionally to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
- Drive best practices for requirements discipline and traceability
Controls Engineer, Powertrain What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Controls Engineering
- 5 years design engineering experience required
- 3 years powertrain systems or software controls experience required
- MATLAB Simulink experience required
- CAN based controls integration experience required
- Strong problem solving skills and technical communication
- EV or hybrid powertrain knowledge is preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the United States with no sponsorship required
