Maintenance Manager — Scrap Metal Recycling Facility
We are seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee all equipment maintenance operations within a busy scrap metal yard. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime, coordinating maintenance activities, and leading a team of mechanics to support safe and efficient yard operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all maintenance activities for mobile equipment and yard machinery (material handlers, loaders, shear/baler, etc.)
- Track equipment condition and ensure preventive and corrective maintenance is scheduled and completed
- Assign and coordinate work for mechanics, ensuring timely and efficient repairs
- Manage parts inventory, order necessary components, and ensure timely receipt of materials
- Monitor equipment downtime and implement solutions to improve reliability and performance
- Maintain maintenance records, schedules, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies
- Work closely with operations to prioritize repairs and minimize disruption to production
Qualifications
- Experience in maintenance leadership within scrap, recycling, heavy equipment, or industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy equipment repair
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple maintenance tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Experience supervising mechanics or maintenance teams
- Strong organizational and communication skills
