Title: Director of Casualty Auto Claims
Location: Remote (Ohio residents only)
Travel: Must be able to attend monthly meetings at the Central Ohio office
Compensation: $125,000 – $150,000 base salary plus comprehensive benefits and strong 401k match.
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as Director of Casualty Auto Claims. This role is responsible for overseeing all Auto and General Liability claims operations, including litigated matters, while driving operational excellence, strong customer outcomes, and continuous process improvement. The Director will lead both physical damage and complex injury/liability claims functions and play a key role in shaping claims strategy across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all Auto and General Liability claims operations, including litigated claims
- Oversee the Casualty and Auto claims team handling physical damage, liability investigations, and Medical Payments claims
- Deliver exceptional customer service to policyholders and agency partners
- Build and maintain strong relationships with independent agents and external defense counsel
- Develop and execute strategies to manage and reduce litigation and non-litigation expenses
- Continuously evaluate and improve claims processes, workflows, and best practices
- Partner with attorneys and adjusters to evaluate and resolve complex claims
- Enhance training programs to elevate technical expertise, confidence, and performance of claims staff
- Optimize subrogation and salvage recovery efforts across claim files
- Communicate complex coverage decisions and outcomes clearly to stakeholders and leadership
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in casualty claims leadership, including Auto and General Liability
- Strong background in handling and managing litigated claims
- Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and drive performance
- Experience working with independent agents and external defense counsel
- Deep understanding of claims processes, coverage analysis, and claims strategy
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly
- Demonstrated success in process improvement and cost containment initiatives
