Sous Chef Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality plates with strong attention to both presentation and flavor
- Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and meets quality standards during all services
- Step in for the Executive Chef to plan and direct food preparation when needed
- Handle challenges in real time—problem-solve quickly and take control of situations
- Lead, train, and inspire kitchen staff; create schedules and evaluate performance
- Manage inventory and order supplies to keep operations fully stocked
- Enforce sanitation, safety, and food handling standards
- Maintain a positive, professional attitude with both team members and guests
Sous Chef Qualifications & Skills
- 3+ years of experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume kitchen in full-service restaurant environments
- Strong knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Proven ability to manage both kitchen operations and team performance
- Calm, quick-thinking approach to high-pressure and emergencies
- Up-to-date with industry best practices and trends
- Comfortable using MS Office, POS systems, and restaurant management software
- Culinary degree or certification is a plus
- ServSafe certification
