Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a high-volume kitchen
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a culinary setting
- Strong culinary skills with the ability to manage multiple stations during busy periods
- Deep understanding of food safety standards and HACCP principles
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience training and developing kitchen staff
- Familiarity with inventory management and cost-control practices
Sous Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure efficient and smooth service
- Supervise and execute food preparation across multiple stations
- Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, and portioning
- Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen team members
- Lead kitchen during service and communicate effectively with front-of-house staff
- Enforce food safety, sanitation, and health regulations at all times
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and minimizing food waste
- Support menu rollouts, recipe testing, and ensure staff are trained on new items
