Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney Requirements & Qualifications
- 6-10+ years of experience in commercial litigation (bankruptcy/restructuring experience strongly valued)
- JD from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in New York State
- Admission to the New York Federal Court (EDNY/SDNY)
- Demonstrated experience managing complex business disputes and high-value insolvency matters
- Strong drafting, research, and litigation strategy skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple cases and mentor junior attorneys
- Courtroom-ready, with trial experience preferred
Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience with Chapter 11 (debtor and/or creditor side), restructurings, and distressed transactions
- Prior experience at an AmLaw firm or a boutique litigation/restructuring practice
- Exceptional deposition and motion practice abilities
- Ability to lead strategy sessions, manage litigation teams, and contribute to firm growth
- Grit, presence, and a solutions-first, entrepreneurial mindset
Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Take the lead on complex commercial litigation and bankruptcy cases from intake through resolution
- Develop case strategy, conduct research, and draft pleadings and motions
- Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, and mediations
- Mentor, support, and guide junior attorneys within the team
- Collaborate with founding partners on strategic firm growth and client development
- Maintain high standards of excellence, autonomy, and client service
