Engineering Director
Overview
A high‑growth engineering organization is seeking an Engineering Director to lead the design, manufacture, and delivery of large‑scale electrical distribution systems supporting data centers, energy infrastructure, and advanced technology facilities. This role blends technical leadership with people management, ensuring quality, safety, and speed across all engineering deliverables. The Engineering Director will drive strategic planning while overseeing day‑to‑day execution from concept through shipment, fostering a high‑performance engineering culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, plan, and deliver engineering projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Lead the design of UL‑compliant electrical panels, switchboards, and control systems.
- Allocate engineering resources across multiple concurrent projects for maximum efficiency.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and career development for engineers and designers.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, procurement, quality, and project management teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
- Enforce compliance with UL standards, NEC codes, and internal quality requirements.
- Track and analyze performance metrics (schedule adherence, budget performance, design quality) and implement process improvements.
- Identify and mitigate project risks to ensure safety and reliability.
- Promote a culture of innovation, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 7+ years of engineering experience, ideally with electrical panel design or electrical distribution systems; experience in data centers, industrial environments, or modular construction is a plus.
- Proven leadership managing engineering teams and delivering complex products from concept to commercial release.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and relevant standards (UL 891, UL 508A, UL 67, NEC).
- Proficiency with engineering design tools (SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical) and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) and/or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or PMP certification preferred.
