External Reporting Manager
A leading publicly traded organization serving communities in the Mid-Atlantic region is seeking an external reporting manager to manage SEC filings and drive continuous improvement in accounting processes. External Reporting Manager Requirements & Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant accounting experience, including 5+ years with a Big 4 or large public accounting firm
- Certified Public Accountant and a bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Demonstrated experience with technical accounting research and writing effective position papers
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with US GAAP and SEC reporting for publicly traded companies
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage demanding schedules
External Reporting Manager Preferred Background & Skills
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality work under tight timelines
- Strong technical accounting and internal control experience, with practical solution implementation
- Advanced financial system, planning, and project management skills
- Experience in the telecommunications industry is a plus
- Advanced Excel proficiency (including modeling, complex formulas, pivot tables, and lookup functions)
External Reporting Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Prepare and review quarterly (10-Q) and annual (10-K) SEC filings, as well as 8-Ks, proxy materials, and other external reports
- Support completion of all disclosure information and coordinate timelines to ensure timely and accurate reporting for internal and external stakeholders
- Research and interpret new US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, assessing and documenting impacts on financial statements and disclosures
- Draft and review financial information for press releases and technical accounting memos
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for external reporting processes and optimize use of ERP and reporting platforms
- Support other corporate accounting functions such as tax and stock-based compensation
- Collaborate with internal and external audit teams
