Associate Attorney, Trusts & Estates
If you are a trusts and estates attorney who enjoys actually building sophisticated plans, not just talking about them, this is the kind of role that elevates your career.
This growing, highly respected boutique practice is expanding and looking for an attorney who wants to operate at a high level, working directly with high-net-worth individuals and families on complex, meaningful planning strategies. You will not be siloed or stuck in a purely advisory seat. You will be in the room, at the table, and in the details.
What Makes This Opportunity Different
- You will be trusted to design and execute advanced estate plans, not just support them.
- You will work directly with clients who expect thoughtful, strategic guidance.
- You will be part of a collaborative, intellectually engaging environment where your work has real impact.
- This is the kind of role where attorneys sharpen their technical skills quickly while building strong client relationships that last.
What You Will Be Doing
You will take ownership of sophisticated estate planning matters from start to finish, including:
- Designing and drafting complex estate plans for high-net-worth clients
- Structuring multi-generational wealth transfer strategies and family entities
- Advising on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning
- Leading client meetings and serving as a trusted advisor, not just a technical resource
- Collaborating with appraisers and outside advisors on valuation and discount strategies
- Preparing and reviewing generation-skipping transfer tax filings
- Managing a full caseload with a high level of responsiveness and precision
- Mentoring and guiding paralegals and support staff
- Staying ahead of changes in estate and tax law and applying them proactively
- Contributing to the continued growth and reputation of the practice
What They Are Looking For
- JD and active New Jersey Bar admission
- 3+ years of trusts and estates experience, ideally with exposure to high-net-worth planning
- Strong drafting skills across wills, trusts, and advanced planning structures
- Experience with GST planning and related tax filings
- Confidence in leading client conversations and managing relationships
- Experience working with asset valuation and discounting strategies
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach
Why This Role is Worth Exploring
- Competitive base salary plus performance bonus
- Full benefits package including medical, dental, and vision
- 401(k) with employer match
- Generous PTO and holidays
- Ongoing professional development, including training in a proven estate planning methodology
- A collegial, boutique environment where your voice and expertise matter
