Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-volume, upscale or fine-dining kitchen as a culinary leader
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop kitchen teams
- Deep understanding of food cost, labor, and inventory management
- Steakhouse experience required
- Highly professional presentation and polished communication skills
- Culinary degree or equivalent high-level experience preferred
Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience with steak or butchery programs is valuable
- Strong organizational skills and calm leadership under pressure
Sous Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Supervise daily kitchen operations, including staff scheduling and workflow
- Ensure consistency in food quality, plating, and guest experience
- Manage inventory, control food cost, and minimize waste
- Uphold health and safety regulations for food handling and sanitation
- Contribute to menu development and execution of special events
- Act as a leader and mentor for line cooks, prep staff, and junior chefs
