Lead Controls Engineer – Industrial Automation Requirements & Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, or related field
- Strong PLC programming experience
- Deep experience with motion control systems and automated machinery
- Proven experience owning controls/electrical architecture across full machine builds
- Ability to standardize systems across multiple machines or product lines
- Strong troubleshooting experience in live production environments
- Experience with industrial communication protocols
- Proficiency with electrical CAD tools
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Must haves:
- Lead full lifecycle controls system design from concept through production
- Define and standardize controls architecture to improve scalability and reduce variability
- Act as the senior technical authority for complex system and integration challenges
- Drive cost reduction through design improvements and process optimization
- Troubleshoot and resolve system inefficiencies directly on the production floor
- Partner closely with manufacturing to improve build efficiency and machine performance
- Establish best practices across PLC structure, motion control, and safety systems
- Mentor engineers and elevate overall technical capability of the team
Lead Controls Engineer – Industrial Automation Preferred Background & Skills:
- Experience with multiple PLC platforms (Yaskawa, Omron, Mitsubishi, etc.)
- HMI design and development experience
- Familiarity with structured programming standards
- Exposure to ERP systems and data integration
- Experience with testing protocols such as Hi-Pot and ground bond
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or PE license
- Background in OEM or highly customized machinery environments
