Restaurant General Manager Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a General Manager or Senior Manager in a high-volume sports bar, restaurant, or entertainment venue (independent concepts preferred)
- Demonstrated stability in work history and personal reliability
- Strong leadership presence, able to motivate and hold teams accountable
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills
- Comfortable working long hours on your feet in a lively, high-energy environment
- Experience managing large teams and busy service schedules
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for labor tracking, scheduling, and sales analysis
- Experience using Canva for promotions, event marketing, or social content
- Solid financial acumen including labor control, budgeting, and P&L management
- Outstanding guest hospitality and visible leadership style
- Ability to act decisively and thrive under pressure
Restaurant General Manager Preferred Background & Skills
- Background in independent venues or multi-faceted restaurant/bar/event operations
- Experience coordinating live entertainment or private functions
Restaurant General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Oversee the sports bar, restaurant, and live entertainment space to ensure exceptional service and smooth operations
- Maintain owner’s standards for food quality, guest satisfaction, and cleanliness
- Lead from the floor: engage with guests, support staff, and oversee busy service periods
- Plan, coordinate, and execute private events, large functions, and high-profile entertainment nights
- Build, coach, and develop a high-performing management and hourly team
- Optimize labor costs, control waste, manage inventory, and drive sales performance
- Ensure health, safety, and liquor compliance; protect the venue’s reputation through proactive guest relations
- Coordinate entertainment logistics and maintain high standards of professionalism
