Internal comptroller for cattle and performance horse ranch in Weatherford, TX. Oversees finances, asset tracking (livestock, equipment), budgets, compliance (land tax exemptions), payroll, and implements internal controls for operational integrity, using specialized ranch management software alongside standard accounting practices to balance profitability with agricultural realities. Will work in conjunction with the ranch General Manager and a broader team of facilities professionals and trainers.

Key Responsibilities

·        Financial Management: Budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll.

·        Asset Tracking: Monitoring and valuing livestock (cattle, horses), equipment, and ranch property.

·        Internal Controls: Developing and enforcing policies to prevent fraud and ensure accuracy.

·        Compliance & Tax: Managing property tax exemptions (agricultural/wildlife), state/local tax reporting, and regulatory adherence.

·        Operational Oversight: Analyzing costs (feed, vet, labor), inventory management, and potentially managing ranch software.

Specific Ranch Considerations

·        Agricultural Exemptions: Understanding rules for special land appraisals to reduce property taxes.

·        Livestock Valuation: Managing complex accounting for breeding stock, market animals, and depreciation.

·        Seasonal Fluctuations: Accounting for income and expenses that vary significantly by season (e.g., haying, branding, sales).

Skills Needed

·        Strong accounting/finance background, proficiency with accounting software (like QuickBooks) and potentially ranch-specific software.

·        Understanding of agricultural practices and terminology.

·        Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and compliance skills.
