Legal Manager Requirements & Qualifications
- J.D. and licensed (or eligible) in New York.
- 7+ years legal experience, ideally including restaurant/QSR, hospitality, or multi-unit operations.
- Strong understanding of labor law, food safety regulation, commercial contracts, and corporate governance.
- Experience providing legal guidance to business leadership.
Legal Manager Preferred Background & Skills
- Restaurant/QSR or hospitality legal experience.
- Experience with CA labor law and marketing/advertising compliance.
- Prior experience in a growth-stage or fast-moving company.
Legal Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Implement compliance programs involving food safety, DOH, OSHA, ADA, wage & hour, and local labor laws.
- Maintain compliance systems in NY and future expansion states.
- Draft and negotiate supplier, vendor, technology, construction, and operational agreements.
- Review and negotiate leases, amendments, and LOIs for new openings.
- Oversee trademark filings, IP protection, and brand usage guidelines.
- Coordinate responses to customer complaints, incidents, and employment disputes.
- Provide legal support for future franchising strategy and FDD development.
