Restaurant Chef – San Diego, CA

Join a prestigious institution as a Restaurant Chef, where you will lead culinary operations and create exceptional dining experiences for students and staff.

Restaurant Chef Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Culinary Arts or a Bachelor's degree in institutional management, nutrition, dietetics, hotel and restaurant management, or a related field
  • Serve Safe Certification
  • Four (4) years of progressive culinary supervisory experience
  • Four (4) years of experience in ordering food and supplies
  • Working knowledge of restaurant financial reporting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Strong leadership and oral/written communication skills
  • Experience with computerized menu management systems and knowledge of office and industry software applications
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Proven problem-solving ability
  • Commitment to high-quality food procurement, production, and services

Restaurant Chef Preferred Background & Skills:

  • Experience in a similar role within an educational or institutional setting
  • Familiarity with menu development tailored to customer tastes and nutritional needs
  • Ability to train, coordinate, and evaluate production staff effectively
  • Knowledge of strategic planning for food preparation in non-kitchen venues
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
