The Director of Outpatient Services provides leadership and oversight for Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHPs), ensuring the delivery of high-quality, recovery-oriented behavioral health care. This role manages day-to-day operations, clinical and administrative staff, program compliance, quality improvement, and external partnerships across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all PHP operations across designated locations.
  • Recruit, supervise, and support clinical and administrative staff, including graduate interns.
  • Oversee interdisciplinary care teams to ensure integrated, patient-centered treatment.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements (DMH, Joint Commission, CMS, managed care).
  • Monitor billing practices and ensure fiscal accountability.
  • Develop and maintain referral relationships with hospitals, schools, and community agencies.
  • Drive program growth and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in human services (MSW, MA, MS, PhD, EdD, or equivalent).
  • Independent Massachusetts clinical licensure (LICSW preferred; LMHC acceptable).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive behavioral health leadership experience, with at least 3 years in PHP/IOP program management.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and payer requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, patient-centered care.

Preferred

  • Experience in co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and clinical documentation.
  • Background in program development and expansion.
