We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work three days in our Columbia, MD, office and two days remotely.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Cost Accounting and Accounts Receivable, complex billing, and financial operations. Must have strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.

Qualifications & Skills:

• 3+ years of accounting experience with a strong focus on accounts receivable, cash flow, forecasting, analysis, and complex billing.
• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and experience with QuickBooks Online or similar financial software.
• Cost Accounting or Project Accounting experience (minimum 1 year required).
• Proficiency in financial calculations and multiple product pricing models.
• Highly analytical with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage sensitive financial data with confidentiality and professionalism.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accounts Receivable & Billing – Oversee complex invoicing, monitor aging reports, ensure timely collections, and resolve billing inquiries.
• Accounts Payable – Process vendor invoices, review and approve expense reports (via Concur), and manage timely payments.
• Cost Accounting / Project Accounting – track expenses (labor, materials, and overhead) tied to specific projects, focusing on managing costs and revenues to determine a financial overview of project profitability. 
• Financial Reporting & Documentation – Prepare reports, presentations, and financial documents using Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables), Word, and PowerPoint.
• Payroll Support – Assist with payroll processing and coordinate tax requirements with payroll vendors.
• Account Reconciliation & Compliance – Maintain financial accuracy, reconcile accounts, and support audits.
