Assistant Survey Project Manager

Job Summary:

A busy Engineering firm is looking for an Assistant Surveyor and Project Manager with a focus on locating underground utilities for construction projects. Responsible for preparing proposals, contracts, permits, and reports, consulting with clients, and drafting maps. Oversees field surveys, records utility data, and is cross-trained in utility locating for gas, water, sewer, phone, power, and CATV lines. Travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor field crews, ensuring quality and proper survey methods.
  • Interpret site, boundary, and utility plans.
  • Collect and analyze field data using GPS, total stations, and mapping tools.
  • Perform utility locating and documentation.
  • Maintain and properly use survey and locating equipment.
  • Ensure project accuracy, QA/QC compliance, and assist in reviews.

Requirements:

  • Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Surveying or related field.
  • PLS, LS, or PSM licensure (at least one state) preferred.
  • 3+ years of field survey/engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with GPS/GNSS, AutoCAD/MicroStation, and utility mapping.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various conditions, lift up to 75 lbs, and travel as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a drug test.
