Assistant County Attorney Qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of law and licensed to practice in the State of North Carolina!
  • Thorough knowledge of the following:
    • North Carolina General Statutes
    • Federal law, State and Federal case law
    • North Carolina Rules of Civil Procedure
    • Federal Rules of Evidence
    • North Carolina Administrative Code
    • Local Rules of Court
  • 3+ years of legal experience, in government and social services law!
  • Strong litigation, legal research, and case management skills!
  • Exceptional written and oral communication abilities!
  • Ability to collaborate with government officials, caseworkers, and court personnel!

Assistant County Attorney Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing legal counsel and representation to Social Services in all legal matters!
  • Preparing and litigating cases in juvenile, family, and administrative courts!
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents, pleadings, contracts, and policies!
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations!
  • Conducting legal research and advising county leadership on policy development!
  • Collaborating with caseworkers and social services staff to support program delivery!
