We’re on the hunt for a dynamic Design Engineer in the vibrant Columbus, OH area! In this exciting role, you’ll play a key part in driving our Engineering Department forward by creating detailed design documentation. Your work will include performing structural analyses, crafting precise design computations, and developing CAD models and detailed drawings for a variety of impactful projects. (This position offers limited client-facing responsibilities, allowing you to focus on your technical expertise and design innovation.)
Bridge Structural Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from a 4-year accredited program
- Preferred: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is highly desirable
- Familiarity with structural analysis, material mechanics, and related engineering software
- Required: Understanding of AASHTO Standard and LRFD Highway Bridge Specifications
- Experience with bridge analysis tools such as STAAD Pro, GT STRUDL, Midas Civil, LARSA 4D, LEAP, or similar programs
- Proficiency in creating precise plans and detailed designs using AutoCAD software
Bridge Structural Engineer Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Engineers by performing assigned engineering tasks to support project goals.
- Conduct structural analyses and utilize design tools to input geometries, layouts, and section details for bridge design development.
- Translate design concepts into detailed bridge layouts, sections, and material specifications using CAD modeling software.
- Generate Material Take-Off Estimates (MTOs) using spreadsheets and specialized software to aid the estimating team.
- Participate in field reconnaissance efforts and compile as-built documentation to support project requirements.
